Creative design or not, but i must admit that they have some sense for art…If creators of this works got popular, they will maybe found interior design jobs, and i hope they will enjoy in them. The key to successful project management does not rely solely on the knowledge of the project management skills. It is a combination of a strong foundation in business skills, process skills and people skills. Since working on a project is an endeavor, a project manager must be equipped with the knowledge and expertise either acquired through training or experience.A little of both is better for a project manager to become highly successful.
Established project managers promote the use a project management methodology which provides a layout on the steps guiding you to structure the project. As we go through each step, the ways to achieve successful project management will be discussed.
The creation of a detailed structure of how you intend to do your project. Project management software is available in the market to be utilized for producing a well thought-out plan for your project. In Project Planning, ideas are generated to provide a framework that will serve as your guide throughout the project process. As a project manager you need to be able to foresee challenges, risks and success rates to anticipate possible solutions even if the occurrence hasn’t happened yet. Preventive measure is better than cure, for it is cost efficient and saves a lot of time.
The working stage of the project where communication or people skills are a priority. How in the world would you be able to unify 1000 individuals in your team into making a project deliver successfully? You need to have a communication plan ready. You need to be able to reach out to each of your team. I am not just talking about the verbal or written form of communication. The goal is to have an exchange of knowledge to provide feedback, generate solutions and create innovative ways to bring the project to fulfillment.
Ways of monitoring objectives and comparing them to baseline data is implemented in this stage. Quality standards are met by means of Project Tracking. You can see quality, efficiency and completion percentage at a glance. Project Tracking is a useful tool to evaluate your team’s performance as a group or individually.
Formalization of the result and acceptance of the project. Some project management software includes a detailed report that can be presented to the project stockholders and sponsors and to the project team as well to give a summary of the project as it ends.
You have to keep in mind that a good investment in knowledge of process management skills along with expertise in business management skills topped with people skills is a great formula for a successful project management.
Illustrations are commonly used in graphic design projects. A beautiful illustration can often grab the attention of your audience just as well as a photograph, and in many cases it can be even more effective. Illustrations are often necessary to “illustrate” a point, such as in graphs, charts and maps or in a set of icons for a website. There are several sources of illustrations, each with advantages and disadvantages in terms of quality, cost and time. Regardless of where the illustrations are obtained, be sure to include the terms related to such work in a contract, to make sure you are paid for your time, and that payments to others or stock agencies are covered in the budget.
Creating Illustrations Yourself
Of course, creating an illustration yourself is always an option, provided you have the skills to complete the job. The complexity of illustrations can vary greatly, so whether or not you take on the work may depend on what the client is looking for, and what was agreed on. If you don’t consider yourself an “illustrator,” but a project requires a simple shape or icon, you may want to work on it yourself. The most common software for illustration work is Adobe Illustrator, though many programs, including Photoshop, have the tools necessary to complete this type of work. Again, what is used will depend on what you or a client is looking for.
Hiring an Illustrator
If you are not an illustrator, and a project requires a custom illustration, an illustrator can be hired on a project basis. This is often the most expensive option, as you will be paying the illustrator for their time. However, you will end up with something that is created specifically for your needs and never seen before. Because of this, hiring an illustrator is a great option, assuming your budget can handle it.
Purchasing an Existing Illustration
If you will not be creating an illustration yourself or hiring someone, there are many places to purchase existing graphics. Many stock photography sites also offer illustration. The challenge here is searching what is already available to find that perfect image for your project, or perhaps altering your work somewhat to incorporate the best image found. The cost of stock artwork can vary greatly, but many sites offer low-cost solutions. You will often spend time, and sometimes lots of time, searching several stock sites for the right graphic. However, it will probably take less time than creating it yourself and less money than hiring someone to create it for you. Therefore, purchasing an existing illustration can be the least expensive option, provided you find what you are looking for. As with any illustration or element including in a project, be sure to check the rights related to using and reproducing the work.
Rather than buy an illustration on a per-project basis, you can purchase a collection of illustrations. CD collections are available that contain thousands, and sometimes hundreds of thousands, of graphics at one cost. The quality of these will vary, but if you find a collection that fits with your style it may be worth it. Be sure to check the rights on such collections, as many will have restrictions including forbidding the resale of products that incorporate the illustrations.
Digital art is an umbrella term for a range of artistic works and practices that utilize digital technology. Since the 1970s various names have been used to describe what is now called digital art including computer art and multimedia art but digital art is itself placed under the larger umbrella term new media art.
The impact of digital technology has transformed traditional activities such as painting, drawing and sculpture, while new forms, such as net art, digital installation art, and virtual reality, have become recognized artistic practices. More generally the term digital artist is used to describe an artist who makes use of digital technologies in the production of art. In an expanded sense, “digital art” is a term applied to contemporary art that uses the methods of mass production or digital media.
Well, I was determined to find out how this crazy Net thing worked. I learned all on my own with minimal investment on how to be seen from California, USA to Tokyo, Japan. Here’s your opportunity to pick my brain and learn all of my secrets!
This is not for the web newbie. This is if you already have a web site going and you the need traffic!
Let’s Get Started!
Web Page Basics – A list of do’s and don’ts.
DO make sure your site is compatible with most of the browsers out there today. Make sure Netscape and Internet Explorer users, down to at least 3.0, can see your stuff.
DO organize your site into separate categories. Have a list of navigation links on EVERY page. DO NOT cram all your paintings onto one loooong page. People will not wait for it to download. Separate your images into appropriate categories. Place all your awards on one page, your links and banners on another, your bio on another, your web rings on another, etc.
DO tell your visitors who you are, what you are about, what your page is about and what you want. Be clear, concise and to the point. Spell check everything. Have friends and family test it out and look it over for broken images or misspellings. Ask them if they felt anything was confusing to them. Just because you know what you mean, doesn’t mean everyone else does. Finally, run your pages through the great free services at Web Site Garage!
Promotion Basics – The simple things.
Add META TAGS and a TITLE to your html. Meta tags aid search engines in finding your site.
Note that they are placed between the <HEAD></HEAD> tags, which is before the <BODY></BODY> tags. Have at least 25 keywords and start with the most important ones in the beginning.
Add yourself to the following Search Engines BY HAND once you have added your Meta Tags: Lycos, Yahoo, InfoSeek, Alta Vista, Excite, WebCrawler, and HotBot. There are countless numbers of other search engines out there, but these are the ones that matter. Yahoo especially. It may take several attempts to get listed with Yahoo. Here’s a hint: Try adding yourself to the Regional section. They’re more apt to give you a listing. Give each search engine at least two weeks to have your site listed. If it’s not listed by then, add yourself again. Finally, if you’re pressed for time, you can use the automatic URL submission service I provide at the bottom of this page. I still am a fan of adding my URL to each major search engine by hand, though.
Trade links with other artists and galleries. Do this a lot. Do this all the time. Ask them nicely and compliment their work, but be clear that you want them to link you as well.
I don’t recommend those free banner exchanges, like Link Exchange, even though I’m using them. You get very MINIMAL traffic and the banners can be annoying and/or distracting to your visitors. I place them on my link pages. People expect links to other site there already. I do, however, recommend exchanging banners as links with other sites that have the same theme as your own site. This can generate more traffic than those free generic exchanges.
The Good Stuff! – Tricks of the trade.
E-mail. Create a signature file with your URL and a short description of your site. Some people create little pieces of ASCII art to go with it. This is your internet business card.
Newsgroups. Find topics relating to your works or interests via a search at Deja News – http://www.dejanews.com. Then, go to these Newsgroups and read some of the conversations that are going on. If you feel you could contribute to a conversation, introduce yourself. Your signature file at the end of your e-mail posting will be enough to get traffic to your site without seeming like you’re pushy. It’s rude to simply butt into a newsgroup and say “Look at my site!”. It’s like interrupting a conversation. The one place where you’re allowed to say “I have artwork for sale” is at alt.art.marketplace.
DON’T SPAM! Newsgroups or e-mail – ever! It’s not worth it. Your reputation will be ruined and you can’t afford that. You will receive hate mail and e-mail bombs that could erase your hard drive and cause everyone on your server to lose their e-mails! Ultimately, the servers would have to add more connections to deal with all the spam and pass the cost on to all of us. Here is a better way: Newsletters.
Start your own free newsletter by having a SIMPLE sign up form on your site. Explain what they’ll get if they sign up. I say they get to see my latest works, discounts on my stuff, and announcements of upcoming works. Mention your newsletter in appropriate newsgroups. Encourage people to join if they want to know what’s new. I have about 1000 people who are part of my newsletter. It took about 9 months of promotion to do it. However, now I have a VOLUNTEER CAPTIVE AUDIENCE in which I can “spam” to. These people WANT to know what I have to say cause they asked me for it, therefore they are not offended with my art promotions and sales.
Get a referral program started. I got a great free one from BigNoseBird.com. This simple cgi program allows a visitor to recommend your site or page to several friends via e-mail. Nothing brings in traffic than a good referral.
Start a contest. People LOVE free stuff! Raffle a print or a service. Set up a simple form and post the rules and the deadline. Add if they want to join your free newsletter while they’re at it. Offer everyone who wasn’t the winner a discount on something in your gallery. That way, everyone’s a winner. Add your contest to http://www.onlinesweeps.com. Watch your traffic skyrocket!
Check out Virtual Promote! I found lots of great tip, tools and tutorials there on web site promotion.
Down the road. – When you have some cash.
Get credit card capabilities and accept them on-line. I got mine from Total Merchant Services. They were good because their bank readily accepts on-line business as legitimate, whereas most traditional banks do not – yet. I’m not totally thrilled with the software they provided, but after a lot of searching around, I found that they’re pretty good compared to what’s out there. You’ll pay at least $35.00 a month for the credit card service plus you can lease the software for $40.00 a month or opt to buy it outright for about $1000.00. I know you’re going “Ouch!” right now, but nothing beats immediate gratification if you’re an impatient surfer. Otherwise, they’ll have to pay by check or money order. Which means, print out the order form, fill it out, get off line, write the check and mail the order. Too many steps there in which one can become lazy and forget all about it. With on-line credit card capabilities, you fill out a form and press a button and that’s it. Not only that, but paintings can be expensive. People tend to charge things over $500.00 or more.
Place some paid advertisements in traditional magazines and newspapers. Choose a magazine that is into your genre. I place ads in fantasy and wildlife magazines because that’s what I paint. Cost for advertisements can range from a $12.00 classified to thousands of dollars for a one or two page ad.
Find a web site that is related to your artwork and gets LOTS of traffic. Ask them if they would accept your banner on their main page if you paid them a monthly fee. I got one site to do this for me by just giving them a print! I get tons of traffic this way.
Use a great on-line promotion company called The Internet Marketing Center. I recommend the site highly! Lots of great tips and tricks!
PROTECT YOUR IMAGES FROM COPYRIGHT VIOLATORS! Go to http://www.gamacles.com and buy their Image Protect software. This is the secret to my java applet images of my work that you can’t right click on to save them. You also can’t link to them and steal my bandwidth! A GREAT ARTISTIC ASSET!
Buy attractive and professional business cards and brochures with your web site address printed on them.
My last piece of advice is stick with your promotions for a long time. Don’t just give up if one thing doesn’t work. Change your strategy and try again. Surfers see web pages come and go and they don’t take someone seriously unless you’ve been around for a long time. Stick with it, even through periods of no sales and low traffic. You must decide now to be in it for the long haul or you will fail. There is no overnight success and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. You’ll have to work hard and be thick skinned.

When your blog starts growing and gets popular, you have to take care of security risks and issues. Most of bloggers and web masters fail to recognize the importance of securing their site. Hackers can do lots of things after breaking in, they can attack your site viewers with Trojan viruses to steal information from their computers and if it’s going to happen Google will block your site with a message on it i.e “This site may harm your computer”. But you don’t have to worry about it if you are using WordPress, as there are lots of plugins to help you out.
(In this post i have listed 10 wordpress security plugins to secure your site from hackers.)
1. Invisible Defender
Invisible Defender is a WordPress plugin, which protects registration, login and comment forms from spambots by adding two extra fields hidden by CSS. This approach gave me 100% anti-spam protection on one of my sites.

6. WordPress File Monitor
Monitors your WordPress installation for added/deleted/changed files. When a change is detected an email alert can be sent to a specified address.

Social media is one of these areas where many tell you need to succeed but don’t actually tell you HOW to do that. And those who do, they tell you things like: “be innovative!” or “do something nobody has ever done before!” After all, social media is a new thing and we all need to experiment with new stuff in order to be successful, right?
If you start from scratch, you’ll be probably making the same mistakes people in the beginning made. You’ll be trying to make the ‘new big thing’ (without realizing the probability of making a viral campaign with 100000000 views is quite low) and not get started and develop gradually.
I’ll try to do something in this article; I’ll try to teach you how to get started by IMITATING and not starting from scratch. Wait, isn’t imitation easy? Isn’t imitation just copying? Yes and no. Imitation is NOT as easy as it seems, and yes, it’s basically copying (within boundaries) what others have done successfully. We’re going to do it smartly through, there’s a smart and dumb way to copy.
There’s been some recent controversy (like this one) of people saying that social media is “dying” and provided Compete.com data of sites like Digg and Delicious to ‘prove’ that.
I have one problem with this:
Those people didn’t mention sites like Reddit, StumbleUpon and Facebook (sites which traffic is growing rapidly).
I mean, you can’t just take whatever sites you want and say ‘social media and web 2.0 is declining’.
The truth is, people are (and always will) prefer some social media sites over others. At this moment, as we can see, those are StumbleUpon, Reddit and Facebook.
What can you learn from this: The action point here is, set up a monthly reminder where you’ll measure the trends in traffic on social media sites. Which site’s traffic is growing and which ones are declining? Obviously, you should focus on the growing ones. Go with what’s already working.
For the next example, let’s take StumbleUpon as a fast growing site (they had 73% growth rate over the past year) and say you want to promote your content there.
How Can You Get Viral on a Social Media Site?
I think I know a lot about StumbleUpon for one simple reason: I’ve had a lot of success with it. To illustrate this, (if you have the StumbleUpon toolbar installed) take a look at this article on doing people search for free and then click on the “Info” button in the StumbleUpon toolbar.
I’ve also had a lot of articles get 15-30k views. Same with Digg, got on the front page 5-6 times.
I’m not trying to brag but just tell you I probably know what I’m talking about
The truth is, every social media site operates under different rules and principles.
The old Digg operated under the following rule:
You added some user as a ‘friend’ (that user was usually some already established member who dugg other people stories every day). Then you digg his submissions every day. After 30-50 days, that user will notice this (through some third party tools who tell him which people digg his stories) and add you back as a friend as well. Then you’ll become ‘mutual friends’. With 100-130 mutual friends (doing this process to 100-130 people) you should be able to get approximately 30% of your submitted stories on the front page. It was very rare for story to get on the front page and submitted by a user who didn’t have a strong network of mutual friends.
On StumbleUpon, it’s totally different. You might just need a few friends to initially ‘push’ your story to get around 100-300 views. But then it all depends on the content and how appealing it is to the audience.
Nevertheless, you need to spend some time on those sites and find out what’s already working. What type of content is going viral regularly? How are people promoting it? Understand how things already work there. Don’t try to re-invent the wheel.
If you’re struggling to find how things work there, then contact some already established users. Some of them will be helpful and some will not. This is the way I found how Digg works by the way (the new Diggs doesn’t work this way, you need to have a bunch of friends on GTalk and ‘spam’ them in order to get on the front page of the new Digg. Kinda tedious ). I just contacted around 20 users and found 2 or 3 who took the time to explain me in the detail how the system works.
